Chromate Convert | CH01 | MIL-DTL-5541, Class 1A provides maximum protection against corrosion, whether painted or unpainted. This is a relatively thick coating used as a final finish or pre-treatment to paint or powder coating and covers chemical conversion coatings formed by the reaction of chemical conversion materials with the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys. The specification is approved for use by all departments and agencies of the United States Department of Defense (DoD).
Electrodeposited Cadmium Plating | PL01 | Electrodeposited Cadium Plating serves as a great paint base while improving aesthetic value and prolonging the life of the base metal due to an increase in corrosion resistance. The Type II classification specifies plating with supplementary chromate treatment to increase corrosion resistance and Class 1 specifies a minimum thickness of 0.0005”. SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416 is the federal standard for Electrodeposited Cadium Plating and it is best used in harsh environments and aerospace applications.
Black Oxide | PL02 | Black oxide meets MIL-DTL-13924 specification and is a conversion coating for ferrous materials, stainless steel, copper and copper based alloys, zinc, powdered metals, and silver solder used to add mild corrosion resistance, for appearance and to minimize light reflection. One of its advantages over other coatings is its minimal buildup.
Electroless Nickel Plate | PL03 | Electroless Nickel Plating, measuring 0.0005" thick can be plated over a wide variety of metals including aluminum, titanium, mild steels, stainless steel, hardened steel, copper, brass and zinc die-cast. Electroless nickel provides a hard, wear resistant surface and improves resistance to galling.
Passivate | PL04 | ASTM-A967 is the standard specification for chemical passivation treatments for stainless steel. The passivate process removes foreign metals and oils, usually from machining from the surface of stainless steel. Passivation purifies the surface of a machined part, therefore improving corrosion resistance without changing the dimensions or overall appearance of the part.
