A new, high-performance mast known as VelociRaptor™ will be introduced by The Will-Burt Company, the world’s premier manufacturer of telescoping mast and tower elevation solutions for surveillance sensor and communication antenna systems at the 2012 Eurosatory International Exhibition, June 11-15 in Paris (Booth # 6-A-495).
The VelociRaptor mast makes its case as the new preeminent mast in the world, employing ground-breaking mast technology that delivers a unique combination of strength, stiffness, extension/retraction speed, payload lifting capacity, and mast size and weight.
VelociRaptor’s exceptional strength and stiffness enable On-The-Move elevated persistent surveillance and targeting from a moving vehicle. The mast may be utilized fully-extended to 6 m (20 ft) with a 100 kg (220 lb) payload on a vehicle travelling at the following speeds and road conditions:
- Up to 88 kmh (55 mph) on improved roads
- Up to 56 kmh (35 mph) on un-improved roads
- Up to 24 kmh (15 mph) on cross-country terrain
Moreover, VelociRaptor’s remarkable stiffness delivers high pointing accuracy for superior surveillance and targeting at long-distance – with less than 16 cm (6 inch) tip deflection at full extension under a 450 m-kg (3,300 ft-lb) side force.
VelociRaptor also delivers exceptional speed, extending and retracting in less than 15 seconds, enabling rapid mission execution and rapid egress from hostile situations. Also, in addition to On-The-Move surveillance, the VelociRaptor’s ruggedness delivers the capability for accurate elevated line-of-sight fire by remote weapons on-the-halt.

COBRA has a higher extended height to retracted height capability than other masts on the market giving it unique performance for certain military and border patrol applications. The COBRA Mast is available in various height and payload weight lifting configurations, from the most compact model, which can elevate 50 lbs (23 kg) up to 12 ft (3.7 m) to the largest with a payload capability of 1,600 lbs (726 kg) extending to 30 ft (9.1 m). The product uses an electric direct drive system and can be either mobile, trailer or field mounted.
In addition to product launches, Will-Burt also celebrates at Eurosatory its First Quarter 2012 acquisition of Geroh GmbH of Waischenfeld, Germany.
